Susa, c.ca 305-297 BC. Head of Alexander r. in Dionysian helmet covered with panther's skin and adorned with bull's ear and horns; panther's skin tied around neck; Rv. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ –ΣΕΛΕΥΚΟΥ, Nike standing r., crowning trophy; in lower l. field, monogram; in lower central field, AX. Kraay-hirmer pl. 204, 720; ESM 417; Seleucid Coins 173, 12; Kritt A53/P13. Bold portrait. Porosity. Evidence of previous mechanical oxide removal. Fields gently smoothed. Probably slightly tooled around some figure details as a result of cleaning interventions, otherwise good extremely fine.
